As you know, Streetnaij is all about the upcoming as much as the popular. So when we heard about “LXR” a new group which which was getting some buzz on the streets. We decided to see whats up. They presently have a signle titled “Sakpo” for which they have just released a view. The video was directed by Kayode Adeleke

Tell us a bit about L.X.R? how did the group come about? who are the members?

The group L.X.R is made up of three members; Erimu Dumez from Delta state, Nnamdi (Chevy) Okereke from imo and ibe (prmzy) Izuchukwu from iImo state. They grew up in Satelite town, Lagos, Nigeria. We started music in 2000. We were formerly porpularly known as D-Block because people thought our style was similar to that of “The LOX” of “Ruff Ryders“. We were more of a rap group back then.

We were inspired get into music by the group named called N.W.A. We also do a bit of afro hip-hop but we call our kind of style “african tone“. Our first single was recorded in 2004 named “l.k.l.y.b.y.g” meaning “little kingslooking young beside you gangsters“. We recorded our second song in 2007 titled “not too fast” and some other singles like “ego red”,”missing you” and “ni**rs in the hood”. They were produced by “skobs”. We never accept collabos beacause we dont need any body to say with out me they will be no L.X.R cos the industry is full of them.

In 2009 we recorded the hit single “sakpo” in a diffrent style. Fusing our mother tongue into an afro hip-hop style, we did the song in yoruba and a little bit of english to suit the Nigerian market. The message of the song is L.X.R is out please jump up and dance and recieve them with open hands. Since then i think the industry have been loyal to us we have been attending some celebrity parties like hip hop awards party, my funky birthday, nuvo and performing in some shows.

In 2010 we shot our first video in South Africa with renegades movies the director was Seun, cinematographer is Ifeanyi Offor and Kayode Adeleke who created the video. L.X.R’s source of income is from our familys and some street jobs we do. Our mission is to take Nigerian music to new heights because we know and have what it takes.

What inspired you guys to go into music?
The street and our families because we are from a very hard world and we have no other way of expressing what we went through to the world. We have to go through music because music is part of the world and it is the world.

What genre of music do you produce?
