Maleke the New Fela… “Fela-Maleke”

Some say they miss Fela Anikulapokuti but I say I miss him the most. When he died, his fans felt no one can ever do his kind of music the way he did it. His dance steps, his critic of the corrupt government and military junta. Without a doubt, Fela remains the irreplaceable mountain the government found too difficult to move or influence.
Maleke’s swagger reminds me of that of the energetic dance step of Fela. Maleke dances just like Fela and his swagger is the mirror image of Fela. To confirm this, watch his current video “911″ which takes you to the innermost circle of Fela’s performances in his shrine.
Maleke comes with something special that so many before him have found extremely difficult to portray. We all expected Dede, Seun, and others to lead the way taking Afro-Beat to the next level. However, they have one way or the other been unable to dust off the waiting shoes of the Greatest Afro Legend.
Maleke comes with the passion, Afro-positivity, Afro-Beat dress code, Dance step and the ability to carry Afrobeat fans along with his local flows. His style is built on the platform that is easily identifiable and clearly connects the traditional Afro-Beat with the modern demand. He simply unifies the past and the future. Maleke might just be the new Fela. I mean the Fela-maleke signifying the modern Fela with some clear difference since Fela can never be replaced.
Nevertheless, Maleke seem to be an Artiste of his own. He is unique and has a lot to come in due time. He sings and dance like he lives and feed on Afro-beat. It is absolutely clear that he understands what Afro-Beat is all about.
