Few weeks after he separated from his wife, Toni Payne, indigenous singer, Abolore Akande a.k.a. 9ice, is currently enmeshed in another controversy as an upcoming artiste, Baba Nee, has accused him of stealing his songs.

Baba Nee, who claims to be a contemporary of 9ice, accused the Gongo Aso crooner of using his lyrics in his popular songs, adding that as if that is not enough, 9ice has been abusing him in his songs.

Now, Baba Nee has replied 9ice in his new song titled 2ice as 9ice, claiming that the Ogbomoso, Oyo State-born singer has been using his lyrics to get fame.

According to Baba Nee, who said he is angry because 9ice has not even been giving him credit for using his lyrics, “I have decided to take legal action against him and at the same time, reply his lyrical jibes in my own new song.

“I sang some lyrics at a contest organised by Kenny St. Brown sometime in 2005, where 9ice was also present. Thereafter, he released his first single and later an album that contained some of the lyrics I sang at the contest.

“I would not have actually replied or taken any action against him if he had not used my lyrics again in his new album, Tradition, particularly in the track Pete-Pete.”

When P.M. Entertainment called the manager of 9ice, Mode F on phone, he did not pick his calls. However, a source said 9ice and his management have decided not to join issues with Baba Nee.

According to the source, “the guy is just trying to get fame through 9ice. Let him release the original version of the songs if he actually owns them.”
