The wait is over: 9ice unleash the “Tradition”

He’s done it before but can he do it again? I guess he can cause he remains a talented artiste. He blew the airwaves and your listening device with his last album. He outsold every artiste in Nigeria. He was the most sought after artiste and arguably the most popular African artiste of now. Most critics are on the look out to see if 9ice can surpass his last achievement. The wait is finally over and his new album titled “Tradition” will be on the street from tomorrow 7 Dec 2009.

According to 9ice and his representatives, “All is now ready for the album, we have finalised collaborations, we have mixed and mastered the album, and we are good to go, December 7 is the release date”. The 16 track Album comprise of some stunning collab with artistes like France based Nigerian Superstar Asa, German based Nigerian Nneka, Alapomeji’s Seriki, Snow and Wise.

Most critics do say he should flow more in English so his fans could understand his message more. He debunked such notion stating that ‘I speak Yoruba because it is my language. Like you know, music is not all about the language you use. It is the delivery and the tune. There are all these ragga and Makosa songs we dance to in Nigeria, but do we really know what they are saying? I don’t have any apology, I am a Yoruba man. In fact it is part of my strong points, what makes me unique. For me language should not be a barrier in music. Whether you sing in English, Spanish, or Yoruba, what is very important is the delivery and the creativity behind the act”.

Furthermore, according to his Manager Dehinde Fajana, “9ice’s fans should expect an album that covers his life story since he was a kid all the way to his struggle to become relevant and established. Of course there are a few club bangers and feel good songs, but 9ice did not fall below expectation”. This seems to show that 91ce has his fans at heart and is not ready to let them down.
