Comedy fiasco: “Where is Ali Baba?”

With a nice sunny day in London, most Nigerians were looking forward to having a lovely time out with their family and close ones. Some took it upon themselves to attend the Comedy show by Elenu and others. It was meant to be Fathers Day Special featuring Ali Baba (Nigeria), Elenu (Nigeria), Seyilaw (Nigeria), Buch (Nigeria), and Obonjo (UK). The show was meant to commence at 7pm in London Kings cross (Bidborough Street, London, WC1H 9DB)
Some say its because Nigerians do arrive late that makes organisers to start shows late. However, the reverse was the case as most people were on time (7pm). The show was delayed till about 8:35pm. They started letting everyone in at about quarter past eight (PM). The most shocking thing was that while people were queuing outside waiting, the comedians had already started. They started flowing while people were moving in. At least they should have waited for all to be seated since they were all left outside the building waiting for the organisers to set up the place. Nevertheless, the worse came to the attention of the audience when they were told at the end by “Elenu” that Ali Baba would not be performing.
When it got to the closing stage, “Elenu” was cracking jokes that it was time for everyone to leave. In response, the audience started chanting “we want Ali Baba”. The comedians tried shying away from their request only for it to be repeated. They had no choice but to start apologising for an absolute mess. The audience started jetting out in anger stating that “its another fraud”. However, Elenu was wary of anyone suing the organisers. He jokingly stated that they do apologise and hope no one would take it up legally. The show which promised featuring some comedians and also the King of Nigerian Comedy “Ali Baba”, did not live to its expectation as they never turned up. The question now is that was it just another 419 by Nigerians on Nigerians? If you were there, please express your mood.
