“Nollywood not Ripe for me”… Dampte

Of recent, Nollywood stars have been switching to the music industry. Some say its the cash they are after others believe they should be allowed to express the other side of their “hidden” talent. Nevertheless most of the Nollywood stars that went into music production, have realised how tough it is. Of recent, Banky W stated a possible intention to go into the movie industry (Nollywood) to give it a try. In a recent interview with Streetnaij, Dampte, one of Nigeria’s highly rated upcoming star gave his opinion on this issue. The Question put to him by Streetnaij goes thus… “We find some artiste like “Banky W” going into Nollywood to see how it is. Would you consider entering Nollywood one day or any time”?

Dampte: (He laughs)… Banky W saying he’s like going into Nollywood is like a cheap shot if you know what am saying cause, I might have to go to Nollywood but, that would depend if it has an element. Basically what am saying right now is that Nollywood is like the third largest movie industry in the world so, it’s a great place to place yourself but for me going into it, I would be having to tell a story that will pass a message across. Something more real and right now, I don’t think Nollywood is right for me yet. Its not the other way round Nollywood is not right for Dampte. When Nollywood is ripe enough, then I would consider going in.
